Max Verstappen admitted that his circle for Sunday for Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix was “very special” after set McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastra first.
It was Verstappen’s 41. Pole position in F1 and the director of the Red Bull Christian Horner team described him as “one of his best ever.”
Verstappen, who lags behind Norris in the driver championship, will look to turn his pillar into the first victory of 2025. When the lights on Sunday in Suzuki enter at 6am, live on Sky Sports F1.
“I also had some really beautiful in other places,” said the ruling world champion.
“But I think if you look at how our season started, even during this weekend, that’s very unexpected, I would say. And I think it probably makes it very special.”

It looked like Norris would finish Verstappen’s down the Zeloda 2024 after the first Q3 running, while the Red Bull driver was all connected, including slider Nico Hulkenberg, to make eight poles in a row.
