Janik Sinner revealed that the decision to accept a three -month doping ban was quickly, although “he did not completely agree”.
Italian retained the title of Australian Open in January this year. He then accepted a three -month ban in February after an agreement with the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) after two positive drugs on drugs in 2024.
“In the end, you have to choose less evil and I believe I did it. Even if sometimes it seems a little unjust, everything I live, but then if I look at things from a different perspective, it could be worse. Even more unrighteousness. That’s so,” Sinner said said Heaven Italy.
The ban will pass in time for Sinner to play in the next Grand Slam, French open in May.
Sonner will have the right to return to his home event, Masters 1000 in Rome on May 7th.
“The decision to take a quarterly suspension was pretty fast. We accepted it pretty quickly, even though I didn’t completely agree. It was a little forward with my lawyer and people around me,” Italian said. “After we made this decision, it took me a while to meet again.
“But I’m still here. It’s still a little time to digest it all, but I can’t wait to get back to Rome. It’s a special tournament for me, although it will also be very difficult. I’ll be back in the moment where there will be a lot of attention on me, and this is not easy in Rome.
“But let’s say I live every day in a quiet way.”
Sinner tested positively in March 2024. On the anabolic steroid clostebol, before he was cleared by an independent court in August, which found that he was not guilty.
Wada, who said earlier that he was looking for a ban between one and two years for a sinner, appealed to that decision in the court of arbitration for sports (CAS) in September, and the next hearing was set for April 16 and 17.
In the agreement reached in February, Sinner accepted a ban of only three months, but insisted that the decision still influenced him.
“I was very fragile after what happened,” he said. “I would say a lie if I said I was a person without feeling or feeling. In the life you learn, I find out more about myself every year, also about my value. It was sometimes not easy, very difficult, but the people around me gave me the strength to understand what happened.”
It remains insecure that other players on the tour will respond to his return.
“I can’t answer this question because I don’t know what might happen,” he said. “I know how things went, I know I’m innocent.
“I’m calm because in the end I know what I want to do is play tennis and be calm. It’s the end of the story. So I’m sure everything will go well, even if it will take some time at the beginning. These are questions I don’t know how to answer.”
It still counts down the time to return to competitive tennis.
“Why? Because I stopped doing what I always dreamed of. I’m in the best position to play this sport,” he said.
“I counted the days at the beginning, but now every day that passes, as time approaches, I feel better physically and mentally.
“Even if there is still time, it is a good opportunity to improve myself in those areas where I had difficulty, on the surface I am struggling on. So let’s try to do something different. We hope he will have more time to try again.”
