Dan Burn revealed that Newcastle’s historic triumph Carabao Cup had yet to celebrate for his first call for England.
The high 32-year-old celebrated his maiden’s invitation to England last Thursday, powering the Newcastle starting goal on Sunday in Sunday’s victory at Wembley against Liverpool.
The Blyth defender now hopes to first appear at any level for his first match of Chief coach Thomas Tuchel, in charge of the World Cup qualification against Albania on Friday.
Burn said, “It was strange. As soon as I left the stadium (Sunday), I completely switched the focus to it.
“I had my family here and the kids and we ended up on the bus about 12 o’clock back to the hotel.
“It was a little awake and I was just ready to sleep! It will be time to celebrate. I know the club sets things up to have a parade on Saturday (a week), so I think I’ll celebrate it.
“But for a long time I waited for this opportunity and I didn’t want to spoil it.”
Burn: I was neglected earlier for England
Burn, whose career started in Darlington and included spells in Yeovil and Wigan, admitted that he felt that he had passed him to England.
“Yes, I think I overlooked, but I understood it,” he said. “What Gareth (Southgate) did to bring England from where he competed in the finals showed that his method was very good.
“When the new manager came in, there was a clean board, but once it transferred you during so many international holidays, you somehow accept the time, but fortunately the new manager took the opportunity for me.
“It probably made me very resistant. I don’t think I had a real line in my career, I started really late and it was very worse and down.
“I made his debut in the Premier League 21 and three years later, let me Fulham, so I think he just strengthened me.
“I really don’t care about people’s opinions. I learned to know what I’m good at, I know the opinions that matters to me.
“I feel that I doubted a lot of career. I doubt many people who watched me play in Darlington would tell me to sit here I was doing a press conference for England.”
Burn with the aim of being part of the 2026 World Cup composition.
Burn said his goal is now to secure his place in Tuchel’s World Cup campaign and appear on the biggest football stage.
He added, “I’m trying to take it in a camp per minute. I just want to make a big impression and try to make the next camp.
“But obviously every child’s dream is to play in the World Cup or even play for my country, so I know that I have the opportunity, if I use it, it’s special.”
‘Tuchel raises the schedule of England’
Sky Sports News Senior Reporter Rob Dorsett at St. George:
“It’s Tuesday the first time we’ll see Thomas Tuchel running training with players in England.
“On Monday he entered the grass after they met in the morning, but it was warming.
“It will be really interesting to see what the body language and chemistry is between Tuchel and the players. There are many to get to know.
“Tuchel tasted schedule. Under Gareth Southgate and Lee, Carsley and other English managers, the team coached the morning.
“Tuchel decided to want to perform their media duties in the morning, and then the training will be at 4.30 pm. Tuchel wants the training to be closer to the beginners of the match.”
Merson: England needs to reset but Tuchel has no time
England needs to reset, but Thomas Tuchel has no time for that.
As Morgan Gibbs-White is not originally chosen only a joke. He has played all season. Marcus Rashford played 10 minutes. But I do not blame Rashford, guilty of FA for the contract given by Tuchel.
They didn’t give him time to correct it. He was supposed to receive a longer contract with two World Cups and the European Championships.
He can’t afford to continue watching the team and see if Tom, Dick or Harry will be fine for next year. Now he needs his team. The World Cup should be won.
