Man City VS Chelsea: striker Bunny Shaw turned off a significant blow to the Women’s Champions League for the City

The Khadija Shaw striker could miss both legs of the Champions League quarterfinals Manchester City against Chelsea due to muscle injury, the temporary chief Nick Cushing revealed on Tuesday.

Shaw was definitely excluded from the first leg on Wednesday at Joie Stadium, and Cushing also suggested that the striker was next week to return to London.

The city’s top scorer was injured in a defeat to Chelsea in the Women’s League final on Saturday, while Japanese International Aoba Fujino, who started and scored in that match, will also be missing.

“Two significant players,” Cushing said. “But for us, these moments provide the capabilities of other players.

“They are both muscle injuries … The problem with these types of injuries, it will take a few days to even diagnose how much the problem is. I think they are significant.”

Pushing to the chances of any player who was available for the other leg on March 27, Cushing added: “When you have muscle injuries and you cannot diagnose a time frame, it will not be one you can turn quickly.”

The Cup League final was the first of four games between Chelsea and City in an extraordinary 12 days. Like the quarterfinals of the Champions League with two feet, they meet on Sunday at WSL match.

The wing of England would be a similar replacement for the injured Fujin, and its creativity, experience and threat to goals would make it easier for other attackers in Shaw’s absence.

City is still blessed with talent, with Jess Park and Kerolin Nicoli available to reinforce from the bench, and Vivianne Miedema potentially become the initial no.

But Cushing, which he described on Wednesday as a “bigger” Saturday Cup final, knows that he needs as many attack options as possible to probably break the best defense in Europe.

Every team in the world would miss a player talented as Shaw. The effectiveness of Cushing’s Plan B will be key to the success of Man City in this intriguing championship league calculation.
