Belgium: Thibaut Courtois Removes Air While Yourri Tielemans says the team welcomed the return of the Real Madrid goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois revealed that he talked about his long absence from international football with his teammates from Belgium to return to the national team setting.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois has not played for Belgium since he left the national team camp in Acrimontin in June 2023 on the eve of qualifying for the European Championship in Estonia.

However, the appointment of Rudy Garcia to replace Domenica Tedesc earlier this year ran the way that Courtois returned, and the 32-year-old now looks like he will play in the next play-off league for playoffs against Ukraine.

A 102 -caped goalkeeper said he hoped to be able to beat Belgium fans now after clearing air with his international colleagues.

“I’m free to talk everything. It’s all clear and now we look forward,” Courtois said.

“I know I was wrong. At that time I wasn’t mentally 100 percent ready to play.

“After a long season, sometimes you have impulsive reactions and that was not smart from me, it was not the best for the team and supporters.

“I still think that the Football Federation could get better after that, but I also suffered a serious knee injury. I wasn’t ready to play at the European Championship anyway. And when the coach’s connection is broken, it’s also difficult.

“A lot is written that I left because I didn’t get a captain’s ribbon, but that’s not true. It’s the biggest misinformation.

“I understand that it was hard for fans then. I hope it will accept me again. I understand that it is not easy, but I hope it will support the team.”

The Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans confirmed that there was no problem with Courtois’s return to an international folding, adding that the composition is all looking forward to.

“The most important thing is that he realizes that some things have collapsed badly with a group of players, but he said he didn’t mean it that way,” said Aston Villa player.

“We correct things, the team fully accepted Thibaut’s decision, and now we have set the sights to move forward, winning the play-off match and qualifying for the World Cup.”
