The police in Uganda are investigating the death of a Nigerian professional soccer player who claims to have fallen from a mall in the capital, Kampala.
According to what was reported, Abu Bakr Lawy, 29, fell from a balcony on the third floor in the audio shopping corridor, where he went to visit a Tanzanian friend. The police said he was transferred to the hospital, where he announced his death.
They said that Lawal’s friend, who was identified as Omary Naima, left him in her room – which is part of the mall building – preparing tea before the accident.
Lawal was a striker playing for the local Fipers Sports Club team, who expressed his grief over “the death of our beloved player.”
A greeting was flowing to the football player, who was with the snake since July 2022 after spending two years with Kigali in Rwanda.
In 2023, the snakes helped win the league and a double cup.
“Lawal was not a unique person. He had a great heart of gold. He really cared about people and left his way to help. He was incredibly generous,” the club said.
“We are sad about the sudden disappearance of the former player Abu Bakr al -Harim earlier today. God may give him eternal comfort.”
“It is difficult to take that you are no longer a lawyer, a talented person, Jolly, and love you. We will miss forever, brother,” said Ugandan soccer player Mustafa Kisa.
Local media says that it has left more questions than answers amid conflicting reports of Lawal’s death conditions.
Some media reported that he had died in a motorcycle accident.
Police said the exact conditions of death were being investigated.
The police said: “The authorities retrieve CCTV footage and a comprehensive interrogation to determine the exact conditions surrounding the accident.”
The police have regained some of the elements belonging to the deceased player, including smartphones, shoes, headphones and training group.
“More updates will be presented with the progress of the investigation,” the police added.
