The new Pope, Leo XIV, called for the Catholic Church to “desperately” the lack of faith in the first mass in the Vatican.
He spoke on Friday the day he was elected as the first American leader of the Catholic Church, warning that people were changing to “technology, money, success, power or pleasure” for security instead of the church.
Pope Leo also urged Cardinals to expand missionary volunteer activities.
The ascension of Robert Francis Prevost (69) from Chicago was widely celebrated by 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide, especially in Peru, stationed for 20 years, and stationed in the United States.
In his speech, the new pope said he was elected “beacon” to reach the “lack of faith” and to reach the “lack of faith”.
“The lack of faith is often tragically accompanied by the loss of the meaning of life, the negligence of mercy, the terrible violations of human dignity, the crisis of the family and many wounds that harass our society.”
Pope Leo wore a white gown trimmed with gold, speechizing the Cardinals sitting on the Cisina chapel address where the Vatican administration lived.
Thursday evening, Prevost was introduced to the world as a new Pope Leo XIV cheering from the crowds gathered in St. Peter Square.
He briefly explained the vision of the “missionary” church where his first words gathered to tens of thousands of worshipers who appeared in the balcony of St. Peter’s Cathedral.
He revered as the former Pope Francis, the former Pope Francis, demanded peace.
“We build a bridge through conversation with us and conversations, meet as one person through meetings, and always help us to gather peacefully.”
The world leaders rushed to celebrate prevost in the election and promised to work with him about global issues. US President Donald Trump called it a “great honor” to have the first US pope.
Prevost, which has Peruvian citizenship, became Archbishop in 2023 and became a card. He was elected by his fellow cardinal two days after the confidential conclusions that took place two weeks after the death of Francis.
He appears to be consistent with the late Pope, and he was regarded as a champion of progressive human rights, and the poor celebrated in his charismatic style of trying to make the Catholic Church more outward.
The Vatican watchers appear to have brought Francis to Rome in recent years.
The upcoming statement of Pope Leo, including a Monday press conference with Regina Koeligi and reporters at noon on Sunday, will be closely investigated by the hints of what direction he will lead the church and what the pope will be.
