All Scottish Premiership Clubs playing in European arrangements next season will be able to request a delay of a concrete league match after a new politics approved by the Scottish Committee on the Professional Football League.
In a move intended for improvement of their preparation for equalization, all clubs involved in the Champions League, Europa League or Play-off Conference League will have the opportunity to delay their homemade hub in the weekend from 23 to 24 August, which falls between the first and second legs.
The SPFL statement Tuesday read: “The Working Group for SPFL competitions has explored that the league can best support clubs that aim to reach UEFA’s league phase in the midst of an extremely congested solidity calendar, due to additional dates needed for competitions at UEFA clubs from this season.
“Working Group for competitions-Koja includes numerous top-notch clubs-now unanimously made a recommendation to the SPFL Committee to present a policy that enables any club participating in a match at the UEFA Club Competition to apply for SPFL to delay its Prime Minister William Hill without any approval of its municipality.
“To date, any such delay would require an agreement of the opponent’s club and the league. The new policy, which has the support of SPFL aired partners, approved the SPFL Committee for the 2025/26 season.”
Scotland should have five representatives in Europe the next term, and all of them could be mixed in the play-off circle. This season, Hearts faced Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League playoffs, while Kilmarnock met Copenhagen in the play-off conference league. Both Scottish sides were defeated on the aggregate.
SPFL Calum Beattie Operational Director said: “We understandably we wanted to support our clubs in qualifying for the UEFA League phase.
“There are tremendous advantages that our clubs in the latest stages of European football. Not only helps Scotland ranking the UEFA coefficient and the reputation of our league, but there are clear commercial benefits for competitive clubs, as well as important payments for solidarity for our do not participate.”
Next season, the winners of the Premiership will enter the Champions League in the Play-off Circle, while runners will enter the second round qualification.
The third -ranked team will begin in the Europa League playoffs if the Scottish Cup won the winners of the Premiership, while in the second round of the Europa League qualifying, there will be two further representatives and qualifications for conference league.
