The Premier League will present semi-automated bySaid on Saturday, April 12th.
This comes after inanimate league testing earlier this season, as well as live in FA Cup.
The semi-automated TexaD technology helps officers to set a virtual offside line when analyzing tight calls, with the help of playing players. It also produces virtual graphics for viewers at the stadium and at home.
The Premier League intended to introduce technology into top matches after they were in October or November international breaks this season, but these plans were delayed.
The Premier League statement states: “Polo-Automated Technology of Offside Automates the key elements of the decision-making process at the offside to support the Video of the Assistant (VAR).
“It provides more effectively to set up a virtual offside line, using optical player monitoring and generating virtual graphics to ensure improved experience at the stadium and broadcasting for fans.
“Technology maintains the integrity of the process at the same time increasing the speed, efficiency and consistency of decisions in the offside.
“The Premier League has worked in collaboration with PGMOL and sports data and technological companies Genius Sports to develop a new semi-automatic offside technology system.”
Premier League matches on April 12th.
- Man City VS Crystal Palace, 12.30 pm
- Brighton VS Leicester, 15:00
- Nottingham Forest vs Everton, 15:00
- Southampton vs Aston Villa, 15:00
- Arsenal VS Brentford, 17.30 – Live on Sky Sports
What is semi -automated offside technology and how does it work?
Polo-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) will use up to 30 tracking cameras-which work at double frame speeds on the usual devices used in broadcasting-how to help officers on the ground and video matching to make better and faster offset decisions.
The cameras are designed to provide a more effective placement of a virtual offside line and produce subsequent virtual graphics to help fans at the stadium and emmmakers.
The Premier League says that the cameras for computer visions, driven Genius Sports, will be installed at each Premier League stadium. These cameras around the ground will follow the ball as well as thousands of data for each player.
When a key moment occurs, such as a sentence, goal or red card, the technology will monitor these data points to see if any offensive player involved in the upgrade was in offsid.
If the player receives the ball in an offside position, the technology will send a warning to officials in Var Hub, who will then check the contact point with the ball and inform the clerks on the field.
The graphics will be available to emiters as well as the fans shown on large screens in the stadium.
What will be the impact of the SAOT?
The Premier League hopes that on average, decisions in the offsids will be made more than 30 seconds faster.
But he warns that there could still be a delay due to the “occasion of the occlusion of the ball” (hidden from the camera among the group of players), “marginal decisions” or subjective decisions about whether an offside player distracted the game. This would require an intervention from the VAR, and perhaps the judge on the ground in another case.
Why has the Saot not yet used in the Premier League?
The semi -anomaticized offside technology is not new in football – its version was used during the 2022 World Cup – but the planned autumn 2024. The premier league introduction never came true.
Speaking last week, Main Football Director of the Premier League Tony Scholes He said they were developing a different system that they believe would be successful in the long run.
He said that “significant progress” had been achieved in the last four to six weeks.
“The system we adopted, we believe it is the best system,” he said.
“We believe it is both the most tired and attractive system.
Scholes insisted that this introduction with potentially just a few games to leave would not create an integrity problem.
“The work of semi-automated bySaid technology does not change the integrity of the offside of the law and does not change the integrity of decision-making,” he said.
“This season we have 100 percent accuracy (on offsid after VAR checking), so it won’t improve accuracy. What works is an more efficient procedure.”
