Rory Mcilroy says the best golf players have to compete more while PGA Tour and Liv Golf Negotiations continue

Rory Mcilroy says the best golf players have to compete Rory Mcilroy says the best golf players have to compete

Rory McIlroy believes that the best players in the world have to face each other at least once a month to keep Golf ‘relevant’.

The male game remains in the process of repairing the divided setting after the seismic influence of the arrival of LIV Golf as early as 2022, which has since stored the regularity on which the best players in the world have been competing.

Liv Golf players are still not acceptable to competition at PGA Tour as negotiations with the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which is funded by LIV, Rumble.

While players are waiting for resolution, McIlroy insists that the best of the best seas meet with a higher frequency for good games.

“I would say that it is more than four, and it is probably – my thing is that Golf stays where it is and to be relevant, it should be – like say we are trying to go – around the world, it’s a year -round calendar,” McIlroy said. “It must be once a month if not more.

“I think it’s 12 times a year or maybe Smidge taller than what I think would be a good number.”

Speaking on the eve of players championship, Adam Scott shared his admiration to Rory McIlroy

Commissioner PGA Tour Jay Monahan said this week a contract with Saudi PIF will be accepted to “diminish the power” of the tour, pointing to the remaining obstacles in the negotiations over the proposed agreement.

Monahan suggested that Donald Trump’s involvement could help the goal of reunification, met with PIF president and governor of PIF Yasir Al-Rumayyan at the White House last month.

While acknowledged financial support in the United States, McIlroy also emphasized the importance of golf, which serves as a global sport and invited it to more high -profile tournaments that will be organized elsewhere in the world.

“I think there is an opportunity to be around the world,” he continued. “I feel Golf has not only played in America. He didn’t start in America. He played in many other places in the world.

“The main source of capital for professional golf is in America, so the reason is that the tournaments are primarily, and bigger tournaments are primarily here because of corporate America and dollars that enters the funding for some of the biggest championships in the world.

“But I think there is an opportunity to have some of the bigger tournaments outside America. I think we need bigger events in Australia. The Australian Open has always been a very big tournament during the day, and I think it could be what could be raised along with some others.”

McIlroy returns to TPC Sawgrass this week seeking his second win after winning one shot in front of Jim Furyk in 2019.

Northern Irish opened in 2025 with a victory at Pebble Beach Pro-AM before finishing 17th. At Invitational Genesis and managed only 10th end on Arnold Palmer Invitional last weekend. Despite the two disappointing final processing, he remains optimistic that his game is in the place he can fight.

“I feel good. I would say that even two finish after Pebble is almost the worst they might be,” he said.

“I just ended up on Sunday at Bay Hill. I just ended up on Sunday at Torrey Pines. But the only thing I would say is from a turnaround in my putting from Torrey to Bay Hill it was great.

“I finished, I mean, the fifth in putting it last week, so see how it turns it was really encouraging. It is for me to really encourage myself to enter this week, obviously, and then for the next few months.”

Paul McGinley shares why he thinks his proposal for unity in golf can help improve and expose sports to a larger audience

McIlroy arrives no.

Scheffler looked mostly unobtrusive as he stared at his chase package, mastering the art of sharing life into and off the course.

“One thing is to get to the number 1 in the world, and then the other is to stay there,” McIlroy said. “I think staying there almost requires more commitment. I think it’s Scottie so good.

“He is so dedicated to his craft and always works. He always tries to improve, and we are all trying to improve ourselves to keep up with him.

“I don’t think Scottie doesn’t care about glory at all. I talked about trying to separate two parts of myself and try to be a kind of normal person, but also to do what we do.

“Sometimes I struggled at a time when I shoot a bad grade and I feel like I’m a bad person, and I’m shooting a good result and I feel like I’m a good person. I think it’s more than any other sport, it’s very difficult to separate two sides.

“But as I said, I think Scottie does a really good job with that.”
