Three NFL referees were discharged from their roles in the league, but instead of being released, they were rejected to college football instead. According to Football zebrasThe trio was returned to the “Powing Conference” to serve college games, not those of the NFL.
This is a curious move for several reasons. For one, giving officials this choice to move from NFL to college ranks have bypassed the union and any possible release complaint, football zebras reported. This also shows that the Vice President of the official, Ramon George, “progresses responsibility” among officials and tries to continuously improve the overall performance of reforms by using data, at the reporting of football zebra.
What remains less clear is whether these three officials – judge James Carter, Judge Robin Delorenzo and Down Referee Robert Richeson – be able to return to NFL as judges at some point in the future.
Football zebra wrote:
All three officials have the ability to work at the Faculty level, re -enter the development program and work their way to NFL. Some of the sources we spoke with were skeptical that it was possible for the clerk to return to the league, but most of those we spoke with admitted that there was no way to be sure, because this was not done before.
That the trio was not rejected directly, leave the possibility of returning openly. But that this move itself is unprecedented means that it is unclear by changing the whole procedure, if it is a further development of these officials in the NFL games, or it is as goodbye as before, but with a solution to avoid unions and possible complaints by connecting the Trio with new jobs elsewhere.
