Rugby Director Steve Diamond is forbidden for six games for “completely unacceptable verbal abuse” of the game officials.
The disciplinary council convened on Friday to review two abuse incidents from Diamond to TMO to TMOs for a match for a match after Newcastle’s Prime Minister at the Exeter Chiefs on Saturday March 29 -the exeter game in which he secured a victory of 17-15 in the last game in Sandy Park.
Sam Hillas KC, an independent president of the disciplinary panel, said: “Mr. Diamond’s behavior on March 29 was completely unacceptable: the language used was inappropriate, abused and completely opposed to rugby values.
“There is no room for the abuse of the match officers and this refers to the same force to deal with professional or community.
“Mr. Diamond rightly has rightly apologized to the officers of the matches for his behavior on the day, and Panel made it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated and should not be repeated.
“Mr. Diamond accepted that his behavior was harmful to the interests of the game.
“Two questions for the panel were, first whether the words used according to TMO were disrespecting or verbally misuse the official match and more, whether the circumstances of what happened after the match encouraged two separate accusations. Panel found that Mr. Diamond’s behavior should be resolved as one accusation of Velna abuse.
“This offense is charged with RFU RFU RUS 5.12 and, as such, the Council is not related to the sanction table. The Council is considered to be a lawsuit for violation of the Law 9.28 (the matching of official abuse), as well as relevant relieving and exacerbation of features and established a ban on six weeks.
“A complete verdict will be available in the near future.”
