Tottenham chief Ange Postecoglou confirmed that midfielder Lucas Bergvall was switched off the rest of the season due to injury.
Bergvall was absent from the match team 3-1 against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday after picked up an ankle injury in the buildup to the first part of their Europa League semifinals.
Speaking on the eve of a meeting with West Ham on Sunday, Postecoglou said, “Lucas (Bergvall), it seems that the injury is significant to prevent it by the end of the season. He brought in the ligaments in the ankle.”
Asked how the injury happened during training, Postecoglou added: “It was not accessories, he went to turn and his ankle gave him a place. They are things that happen.
“He is extremely disappointed and you cannot say much. Every experience in life and football makes you stronger. He is a amazing career ahead of you.
“That denied him the opportunity to play last night in the big game. He would return stronger. Every player must go through the failure.”
The Spurs chief also offered updates about Dominic Solake and James Maddison, who were forced to go with the strokes during the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, as well as Captain Heung-Mi, who missed the last five games.
“Home (Solance), we don’t think it’s too serious. He’s doubt about the weekend,” Postecoglou continued.
“(James) Madders is a little more concerned because it is a knee. We sent him to scan and wait for the outcome.
“The son is on the grass and feels better every day. We’ll see about Thursday.”
