Hull Kr returned from 14-6 down, reaching three attempts in the last 14 minutes to record a win of 20-14 in Leeds in a bruising competition in which both sides ended up with 12 players.
When SauaSo Sue was fired and Lachlan Miller turned the resulting sentence just before an hour, the wound leaders of the Super League Betfred were staring at the second defeat of the season in nine games.
But after Ash Handley was red, the second result of James Broadbent and attempts from James Batchelor, and Mikey Lewis secured a hard victory for Robins at the Amt Headinley Stadium.
Rovers was the sixth in a row over Leeds and ensured that the HoS Willie Peters could boast a four-point lead at the table-and-one runner-up Wigan can reduce the deficit on two beating Hull FC on Sunday.
Leeds remained sixth after succumbing to the fourth defeat of the campaign, recorded victory for the return victories over the fight Salford and Huddersfield, and may have the feeling that they let it go through their fingers.
Jack Sinfield, the son of Leeds Great Kevin, was a surprising starter, but the first great great involvement in the game, she saw him sent him to a sinful penalty for the high Pribora on Arthur Mourguue.
Leeds was lowered to 11 – because Jake Connor briefly left the field with a suspicious dislocated finger – when Broadbent moved to the corner in the 10th minute after he quickly passed from the left after the initial interruption of Lewis.
Sue was kept on the line, but, with a complete addition, Leeds straightened after 23 minutes, while Miller’s Bullet Pass caught Hull Kon out of fear, and Handley won the race in the left corner of Connor’s dirty Grubica.
Miller and Mourguie traded two-point penalties to achieve 6-6 at halftime after Lewis turned out to be a fall, pulling wide, 30 meters.
The high ball to the Lewis line put Leeds under pressure, but the defense was turned into an attack because Connor’s switching deep in his half allowed Handley to release and twice exchanged a passage with Riley Lumba, who touched down in the left corner.
Rovers’ hopes caused a blow when Sue saw red after she walked in and grabbed her head of colleague Samoan Sam Lisone, who was on his way to Elliot Minchell’s pressure.
Miller’s second sentence gave Leeds a lead of eight points, but visitors gathered even after Jai Whitbread tried to break through, the striker then broke through the Leeds Line and amazed Broadbent to yell again.
The sides were equated when Handley was fired because of the late shoulder challenge to the head on Mourguue and from the next set of six, the fifth Hiku set Batchelor to go to the right corner.
Mourguue missed the third consecutive conversion, making it 14-14 to set the finals from the panel. Lewis had the last word after 75 minutes, breaking on the left on the Broadbent passage before he sprinted for the line, and Mourguue added supplements.
“That’s nonsense!” – Were the two red cards correct?
Sky Sports’ Jon Wilkin on Suee’s red card:
“I agree with Willie Peters – what can he sue?
“And this is a problem in the game in the moment, we have people who make decisions and invite those who do not have a practical understanding of that situation. One hundred and 20 pounds a man takes a break and falls on his knees, where do you want to go?
“He hit him in the head, we’re all aligned – it’s a punishment. It could even be a yellow card, but no chance ever, ever in my time in a game that is a red card.
“You can use all the terminology you want; you can call it what you want, mitigate, whatever. It’s a random contact with the head of the falling player. We accept that it is a punishment, accept that the yellow flag is not red. Recommend yourself, it’s nonsense!”
And Wilkin on Handley’s red card:
“It’s a yellow card or punishment. If this is a red card, Jack Sinfield sent after two minutes. I think it’s a misunderstanding. It’s clumsy, it’s not reckless, it’s not strong. It’s a bad look, they made a mistake last night and tonight.”
