Quetta, Pakistan – The oil tanker lit and exploded along the dusty road in southwestern Pakistan, killing two people and injuries 56 others, officials said on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred as firefighters tried to expel the fire on Monday in Nauxki County from the province of Balochistan, the local police officer Atta Ullah said.
Firefighters and people in the crowd who gathered at the scene of the events were among the injured. The tanker driver and the observer were killed.
Almost a dozen injured was in critical condition, and some attracted the southern city of Karachi, where the better medical care was available, Wadeem Baig, a spokesperson for the civil hospital in Quetti.
The Chief Minister of Balohistan Sarfraz Bugti visited the Civil Hospital in Quetti, the capital of the province, and directed by doctors to provide the best possible victim care.
Deadly incidents involving oil tankers are not unusual in Pakistan.
