St. Petersburg, Fla. – Will Buxton was not regular on Indycar Circuit in recent years, but that does not mean that he needs advice on how to perform duties of playing by games for Fox this season.
“I think you’re never ready,” Buxton said. “You could always be more prepared. You could always know more. I’m very aware of it. But I’m ready as much as I can be.”
So, he may not need advice. But we’re here to give it to him.
We asked a few drivers in a row to give advice to a new voice of the series while Buxton leaves various Formula 1 Roots for broadcasting (many of you who do not watch F1 regularly know him from “Drive to Surve”) because he will be a new voice, joined by analysts of experienced series and former drivers James Hinchcliffe and Townsend Bell In the Fox cab.
Some drivers were playing nicely. They said Buxton didn’t need advice.
“Please bring all your energy and ideas to the table,” the ruling winner Indy 500 Josef NewGarden said.
And some had at least some English tips. Here’s sampling:
Of the six -time champion of the series Scott Dixon: “He had to include his southern twang and start accepting the American language a little more.
Veteran Graham Rahal: “Get ready for a lot of pork tickets in Indy and all the other things you get. It’s pretty different from Monaco.”
Driver of Superautics facing Indicar Scott McLaughlin: “Don’t get watered with Hinch and Townsen. These guys are bad.”
Felix Rosenqvist: “He has to go out to the middle west and learn the roots of the American race. I feel like he was a big fan of Indycar, so he probably knows more than what anyone thinks.”
And from the champions Alex Palou: “It will be difficult for him to keep up with Hinch. Good luck, man.”
We also asked Series NASCAR CUP analyst Kevin Harvickwho withdrew from the Cup race after the 2023 season if he had a buxton advice:
“I like to listen to Will Buxton. I love his opinions. I love everything he does. Bringing a fresh face to the Indycar world and allowing him to talk about what is happening, he will bring a famous face from more international stops than we have here in the United States. I think it will be a great accessory.”
So what does Buxton think of all these tips? We played a few of these answers to him.
Here’s his reaction:
“I appreciate the comments,” Buxton said. “I appreciate the advice. And I really welcome.
“I’ll do my best not to let you down.”
