Rangers defense attorney Dujon Sterling will undergo surgery on Achilles injury that will exclude him “long -term”.
The twenty-five-year-old was brought to them on Thursday in the Europa League draw with the Athletic Club in Ibrox, forcing them to see a game with nine players after the early red card of Robin Propper.
Chief coach Barry Ferguson says he is “ravaged” on the news, and Sterling returned to action last month after a foot injury forced to miss 12 games.
“It will be long -term, it’s serious,” Ferguson said Sky Sports News.
“He came in and I think he was immense for me on the back. He had problems with the injury and now he will have to suffer for another long time aside, which I am devastated about because of that
“But listen, it’s football, we have to move on. We’ll be about Dujon because he’s a popular member of the locker room.
“He was a big player for me and we just have to make sure we get him back as quickly as we can.
“I don’t know exactly (how long it will be out), but I mean in the long run. I’m not a medical expert, but I talked to a doctor, he will go to surgery on Monday and we just need to wait and see how this surgery goes.”
