Sudan takes the United Arab Emirates (United Arab Emirates) to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accused of supporting the Rapid Support Forces Sudan, Sudan (RSF) in the civil war.
Khartoum argues that the United Arab Emirates is “complicit in the genocide” of the Masalit community, in West Darfur, through the military, financial and political support of RSF.
In response, the United Arab Emirates has strongly rejected Sudan’s allegations, describing the issue as a “satirical propaganda trick”, and says it will seek an immediate separation.
Since the war began in April 2023, RSF and the Sudanese army have been accused of atrocities.
RSF has been accused of genocide in Darfur – against non -Arab groups in the region.
According to the News Agency, the introduction of Sudan to ICJ says: “The United Arab Emirates nourishes the rebellion and supports the militia that committed the crime of genocide in West Darfur.
“The United Arab Emirates must provide full compensation for the injury resulting from its internationally illegal actions, including paying the payment of war victims.”
“The allegations made by a SAF representative in the International Court of Justice lack any legal or realistic basis, which represents another attempt to distract her from this tragic war,” said an official in the United Arab Emirates, whose name was not revealed.
UN experts who monitor the arms embargo on Darfur have described arms charges to smuggle the United Arab Emirates to RSF via Chad as credible.
The consultative opinion of the International Court is not legally binding, but it still holds a great political weight.
The war that lasted almost two years has destroyed Sudan, killing tens of thousands, and more than 12 million people were displaced, which increased the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Earlier this week, heavy shelling in a displacement camp in North Davor left dozens of people who fear dead.
A BBC local official said that a crowded market in Abu Shok, a camp on the outskirts of the city of Al -Fashir, was attacked for about two hours on Tuesday evening.
