Competitive and combative as always, former Chelsea captain John Terry has taken on his managerial role in the Baller League with the same attitude that has never been in mind that he has applied during his playing career.
If something didn’t go to football, teammates, coaches, managers and judges would soon find out how they feel.
In the Baller League is not different – and former Premier League judge Mark Clattenburg knows that.
The couple clashed after the decision during Terry’s 26ers games against FC RTW on the night of three, and the five-time winner of the Premier League said Clattenburg: “There is no F ******, I have to do your job for you.”
Terry’s anger continued after the game when he said Sky Sports that the “refiners are awful.”
The 26ers are without victory, the other of the bottom and have only a solitary point that will show four weeks of Baller League action. As for Clattenburg, Terry requires a certain introspection after his part performance.
“Terry must be careful because I could tell him how to manage his football team because he didn’t even do so well at the end of the day,” Clattenburg said Sky Sports.
“At the end of the day, you can comment. He was not pleased with the decision of the trial. With John Terry, we had a lot of running in the Premier League, but I certainly respect him as a player and he had a few great moments when I participated in Chelsea. He was a great player.
“He is the winner, which is the most important thing, and you can’t take it out of someone. And that’s what I like in people – they are still winners and they want to win, even though it’s excitement, but he’s so devoted to winning and sometimes sheds it.
“He tried to blame me, but at the end of the day it is not always the fault of the judge. Surely is not always my fault. You have to look at the bigger picture. Does his team do it well? No. No.
“But he put a lot of effort. I saw him on the beach in Dubai in the pictures, so it goes okay. I’m sure he’ll be forgotten next time if he wins.”
Terry Bust-up reflects the centuries-old trial efforts, but everything happens in the second environment for Clattenburg.
Because he judged the Champions League, the finals of the FA Cup and the EUR, the Bakarna Box Arena is a pretty change, but that is the challenge of Clattenburg completely immersed.
“It’s nice to be active still. I haven’t been an active referee since 2020. So, I wasn’t involved. But I participated in these charity matches, Sidemen matches and YouTuber Influencer Games, which is exciting.
“Mentally, it’s great for me that I can still stay active. In the Baller League, players are really respectful. It’s really comfortable.
“It’s nice that I try to bring some young judges to the Baller League so they can learn from me and I hope I can inspire the next generation of young judges to be involved in the baler and also take over the judge.”
The rules in the Baller League make an intense, faster game, different from what Clattenburg was used to in his time as a judge Fa and FIFA. Six-sided, gamechangers and blinking lights, but is it a new time of football?
“That’s for sure,” Clattenburg says.
“When you are at the Arena every week, you can feel the buzz, you can feel hype, you can feel noise and everyone enjoying it, and I think this is the most important thing.
“Everything is now directed to make it as quickly as possible and as exciting as we have to hire fans, people to watch it. I believe that people, yes, will watch football from 11 on the side, it’s 90 minutes.
“But what people want, especially the younger generation, is the excitement. The Premier League should bring some kind of league in the future, because the younger generation wants other things.”
Clattenburg, along with other judges involved, take the Baller League seriously. Weekly video calls among officials are used to analyze the performance to improve for next week. Heating, preparing and nerves remain the same, similar to the blockbuster matching Clattenburg, which has served over the years.
Official celebrities have tattoos that mark all the biggest knots they judged. Will he add the Baleric League inspired? “It never knows in the future,” Clattenburg says.
