Montreal Canadiens are eliminated from Stanley Cup playoffs in five games by Washington Capitals.
The Canadians got into the playoffs as the eighth seed because they had an incredible second half of the season. Still, Montreal was overwhelmed because the Canadians could not keep up with the capital, who were cruising to victory in the series.
“It’s disappointing,” said veteran striker Brendan Gallagher via Nhl.com. “It just felt like each game there were one or two things that were a difference, which is part of the learning. You have to go through it. For most of our group, it is the first experience here and these are the things you have to go through, the lesson you, hopefully, do not have to learn anymore. I suppose it will say the same, as if every game was close.”
After Montreal was eliminated, here are three players who have disappointed themselves most.
3 Montreal Canadiens players who disappointed the most in 2025 NHL playoffs
#1, Patrick of Laine
Montreal Canadiens made a brave move to acquire Patrick Laine In off -season to try to help their insult.
The former other overall choice is known as a sniper, but its lack of defensive abilities and work ethics is a knockout.
In the playoffs, Laine played only in two games and had one assist, but she was -2. He ended up scratched due to injury, but if Montreal would upset Washington, Laine should have produced more insults.
#2, Ivan Demidov

Ivan Demidov He played in the first playoffs Stanley Cup while debuting NHL at the end of the season.
Russian looks like a future star because he has a great ability to play, and can score a goal. However, Demid’s lack of experience showed in the playoffs.
Demid’s series ended with 0 goals and 2 assists. But he was -5 because his defensive ability was always a questionnaire and fought at the end of Montreal.
#3, Josh Anderson
MontrealJosh Anderson entered it with Tom Wilson and played a physical game, but what Anderson does good is his defense capacity and adding some secondary scoring.
Still, against the capital, Anderson fought for production. He ended up with only 1 assist and was -2 and had 20 penalties.
The Canadians needed Anderson and other scorers of the depths to reinforce themselves to win Washington, but that didn’t happen.
