The Tatyana Heard English Center believes that there will be replaceable combinations within the team and the versatility will be crucial in their search for another female title of six nations.
Red roses seek to equalize their best victories of consecutive titles – seven. They also have a view of part of history, however, because neither side has ever recorded four big straws in a row.
After winning 67-12 over Wales, in which Ellie Kildunne scored a hat-trick attempt, England was about to deal with Ireland on Saturday, and Heard said that their execution and handling would be vital to achieve another victory.
“Our execution is massive. We want to make sure we paste those last passes,” Heard said.
“So you want to be able to try things out. You want to be able to be brave in everything you do. So things will happen.
“The mistakes will happen, but we want to be sure that they are minimal, and I suppose that is what every team wants to do, but this is something we try to put together.”
After victory over Wales, Red Roses head coach John Mitchell praised their good start to new combinations, but said his side lost the momentum in the second half.
The relying on partnerships will be key to solving this problem, and Heard relied on her Gloucester teammate Hannah Jones in the middle of the field.
“The construction of these relationships is huge,” Heard added.
“Having combinations that match how we play is great and ensure that we know how each of us clicks and how best to get out of each other is really important.
“I tried to build it with Meg (Megan Jones), but equally, trying to build it with everyone else in the team to make sure we have all our combinations.
“Meg likes to be involved in everything and has great energy and is a really loud personality, while Hannah (Botterman) is much calm and reserved, but they both like to bring physicality to.
“It was really great for a little change for six nations.
“They both bring very different games, and it’s really cool to be with them because they both knew the game.
“In order to learn both and adapt my game based on who I play with, something is what I try to learn and grow with.
“It’s great to have people who are so versatile with different combinations, really exciting.”
Red Roses that hope to repeat success over improved Ireland
Last year, England beat Ireland 88-10 in six countries and will hope that this success will be repeated at the Mussgrade Park in Cork.
However, Ireland comes out of the success of 54-12 against Italy and will use its home support for full benefit.
“They have had a great series of games in the last few months and have definitely improved,” he added.
“You can’t deny that this is a class performance of them, especially against black ferns in WXV.
“But we just want to focus on ourselves and make sure we improve ourselves. Obviously we try to continue to adjust our game as we go.
“It’s one of the really important things for us, so we will make sure that we can do it so that we hope to stay on top.”
The English red roses travel to Ireland at the Mussgrave Park in Cork in the third round of six women on Saturday, April 12 (at 4.45pm).
