Proponents of civil rights and legislators say this step eliminates key supervision when the administration increases detentions and prepares for mass deportations.
Also on Friday, DHS posted a message that expands in January the determination of a permanent or rapid influx of migrants on the southern border, even when arrests in February decreased to 8,300 – a month, which has not been observed over the decades.
