Commissioner Tiger Woods and PGA Tour Jay Monahan posted a statement stating that they were “dedicated to the reunification of golf” after a working session at the White House with President Donald Trump.
On Thursday were PIF governor and Golf Liv chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan and PGA PGA director Adam Scott.
“We just concluded a constructive working session at the White House with President Trump and on Yasir Al-Rumayyan,” read a statement from Monahan, Woods and Scott.
“Thanks to the leadership of President Trump, we have launched a discussion on the reunification of Golf. We are advocating for movement as quickly as possible and share additional details as needed.
“We share our passion for the game and the importance of reuniting. Most importantly, we all want the best players in the world to play together more often and we are dedicated to everything we can to achieve this outcome to our fans.”
President Trump himself commented that he had “interesting discussions” as part of the effort to solve the schism in a professional golf between PGA Tour and Liv Golf, which supports Saudi.
Trump, who became deeper into an attempt to end the long -standing division in a professional golf, appeared in a white house for black history after a meeting with Woods on stage, carrying his Freedom Presidential Medal, while Monahan and 2013 Masters Champion Scott was in the crowd .
“I was always trying to swing like Adam. That never worked,” Trump said, adding that he “had interesting discussions” with golfers.
PGA Tour said earlier on February 6 that after the meeting with Trump, he was closer to reaching an agreement with a public investment fund, a Saudi supporter of Liv Golf.
Woods, the 15th-year main winner, collaborated with Scott and Monahan on that issue, but missed the initial meeting because his mother died recently.
“I think things will heal quickly,” Woods said on Sunday during the CBS of the Genesis Invitational tournament in Torrey Pines, California.
Liv Golf attracted some of the world’s best golfers after being founded in 2021. The best players from LIV PGA Tour are played only a few times a year.
Trump played golf with Woods on February 9 at his club at West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump awarded Woods to the 2019 Freedom Presidential Medal.
