Collin Morikawa released the members of the media to criticize his decision to instill journalists after failing to close Arnold Palmer Invitational Victory on Sunday.
The double main champion was three in front of five holes to play at Bay Hill and on the edge of the first PGA Tour win from October 2023, only to spoil along the final part and finish second behind Russell Henley.
Morikawa refused to talk to the media after a circle and defended her decision to upgrade the players, saying to reporters at her press conference before the tournament that “just p *****” and “he didn’t want to talk to anyone” before adding that he owed anyone anything. “
Former PGA Tour player Rocco Mediate described a decision as “the most common garbage you ever could say” in his radio show, while Paul McGinley and Brandel Chambblee also criticized Morikawe behavior during their “Live From” program in players.
Morikawa advocated a claim at the Marquee PGA Tour event, after the second round 65, raising him within two strokes from the club’s leadership, where he used his interview after a circle to invite individuals who questioned his behavior.
“I just want to add another thing,” Morikawa said at the end of his media after the circle. “Maybe I would bite my tongue after I say it, but Brandel Chambbles, Paul McGinyys, Rocco Mediators of the World, I don’t regret saying.
“It may have been a little sharp to keep anyone owed to anyone, but I don’t owe anyone.
“I respect the fans. I am very grateful for them. I am grateful. It makes me emotional, but it hurts to hear me say (criticize it), and especially you guys (media), because I finished the circle and went on a mark 10 minutes, 15 minutes for all people after.
“No person from the media went to follow me because, I don’t know. But that’s me. So, that people call me is – it’s interesting. It’s not showing anything.
“I understand what you are saying. But I was there. I signed for every person immediately after a circle, did they want it or not. I finished else in place. I couldn’t worry about less. But yes, I’ll leave that in that, okay?”
Morikawa Media Snub: ‘Unforgettable’ or an increasing problem?
“It’s like most of the things in the media, 98 percent of what we say is so positive about players,” McGinley said while reporting Sky Sports, following Morikawa quotes.
“We (Brandel Chambblee and I) commented on that we thought he had a duty, bearing in mind the huge amounts of funds for now, as well as the importance of media in the game. You have a duty, even if it is a small sound.
“Great players in the history of the game have always given interviews. Tiger Woods – and you can criticize them in so many different ways – but what is never at any stage, even in his defeats, was an interview.
“I made a broader point – to be around many corporations and a lot of people in public – that there is a real apathy according to the current crops of players they need to be aware of.
“Codex of behavior are important, and standards are important. I’m just a little worried that new norms can be created. That was the thing we did. It was very wide and was a collective more than anything else.
“Colin is back, and that’s okay. I mean, I’m a big boy. We can take it. It’s not biggie, but most of these things are blowing.”
The legend of Solheim Cup ladies Laura Davies added in covering the Sky Sports: “When you blow the tournament, and we all have done it over the years, the only thing you have to do is the face.
“You can’t take all the glory of victory if you are not ready to stand there and explain where it went wrong, whether you were, whether you were just caught. In order for the media, in his position, in his position, I think it is unforgivable.
“I am with Paul (McGinley) and Brandel (Chambblee) – this is the only thing you have to do. I used to be malicious to my caddy, everyone else after I did the press thing, but so you let go of tension. Just to break them, that’s not a good thing.”
