The Senate voted on Tuesday along the partisan lines to enhance the nomination of Cash Patel, the president Donald Trump Choose to the FBI director, and purify a procedural obstacle to hold a final vote on Trump’s controversial ally to lead the FBI.

Patel was formerly responsible for the Ministry of Defense in the first period of Trump, and has supported the FBI’s reshaping, including by expanding its role in carrying out the Trump mission targeting immigration.

Democrats also criticized Patel for supporting false claims about the voters ’fraud in the 2020 elections and refused to confirm that former President Joe Biden defeated Trump in that year’s elections. But Patel is still receiving support from many Republicans, including moderates.
“I spoke to many people I respect about Cash Patel this week – for and against,” said Senator Louisiana, Republican Party, Bill Cassidy, on Tuesday.

Patel said in his confirmation session last month that the Democrats were taking some of his comments outside the context or misunderstanding his point of view, including when he suggested closing the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC and turning it into a museum into the “deep state”. Patel also denied the accusation that the inclusion of his book for a list of government officials who claimed to be part of the “deep state” formed a “list of enemies”, and this claim was replied as “a complete misunderstanding.”
