FIA president Robert Reid resigned for sports, stating the “breakdown of the standard” in Formula 1 management body.
This is the last higher resignation in FIA for the last 18 months, because it seems that Reid has fallen out with President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
Reid has been a deputy president since Ben Sulay, who attended his first F1 race this weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix, elected at the end of 2021.
“When I took this role, it was necessary to serve members of FIA; not to serve power,” Reid said in a statement he saw Sky Sports News.
“Over time, I witnessed the permanent erosion of the principles we promised to support. Decisions are made behind closed doors, bypassing the structure itself and the people that FIA exists.
“My resignation is not in personality; these are principles. Motorsport deserves a leadership that is responsible, transparently and guided by members. I can no longer, in good faith, remain part of the system that does not reflect these values.”
Last year, several higher figures separated with FIA, including his sports director, F1 Technical Director, Digital Director, Commercial Legal Affairs Chief, Director of Management and Regulatory Director, Race Director, head of the Moto Sports Commission, Secretary General for Mobility and Communications Director.
The most prominent were the director of the Niels Wittich race and the leading steward Tim Mayer, which were effectively discharged last November.

Former Executive Director reveals Challenges in FIA
Former Fia Executive Director, Natalie Robyn, was the first time she left her role in May 2024 after leaving her role.
“During my term as an executive director, I worked in challenging circumstances to strengthen the Federation management framework and upgraded his operating transparency,” she said BBC Sport.
“The resignation of the deputy president of the sport clearly indicates that there are serious permanent structural challenges.
“When professional processes do not adhere to and the stakeholders are excluded from decision -making, it undermines the foundation of a strong organization.
“I am sad to see these movements, because they are threatening both credibility and long -term efficiency of important institutions.”
What is happening on FIA?
Ben Sulayem was surrounded by a controversy in the last 12 months after Fia’s whistleblower accused him of interfering with the outcome of the Grand Prix Saudi Arabic Arab 2023.
The 63-year-old was also accused of telling FIA officers not to confirm the Circle for the Grand Prix in Las Vegas in 2023. Both claims were rejected.
He was criticized by Lewis Hamilton for using a stereotypical language when he made a comparison with the rappers in an interview, where he spoke about wanting to see a less creepy language on team radio. Fia then refused to comment.
In December, FIA voted controversial changes in rules that would effectively limit the ways in which his leadership could be responsible.
Changes meant that the FIA Ethics Committee would only perform an initial assessment in order to determine if a depth investigation was required. FIA President Ben Sulayem and Senate President, Carmelo Sanz de Barros, will have the power to decide whether to take further measures to any ethics complaints.
Fia also sues the director of the F1 Susie Wolff Academy after an investigation into the conflict of interest about her and her husband, Toto Wolff in December 2023, who was abandoned after two days.
Motorsport UK David Richards is also in a dispute with Ben Sulayem, who is ready for a re -election and currently inappropriate.
