PGA Tour Golf: Joe Highsmith claims a maiden title in Cognizant Classic after an incredible return to PGA National

Joe Highsmith won his maiden title of PGA Tour after an extraordinary turnaround in the last two rounds of Cognizant Classics at PGA National in Florida.

The 24-year-old had to make five feet on the last only halfway to cut on Friday at Palm Beach Gardens, leaving him eight blows, just to collect a board with an incredible return of the weekend.

Highsmith was carded back to the seven-under-64s to charge the field and set the target club house at the age of 19, and the US last 36 holes were the lowest in the history of the tournament and secured him a two-goal victory.

He is the first player in the nine years at PGA Tour, which won after reducing the number, after being provided with success from the Snedeker Brandt 2016, and Rory Mcilroy has achieved this century among other players.

Highsmith described his fourth circle without any legs as “probably the best of my life,” with four birds in five holes from the ninth key to put in a quarrel.

Highsmith’s victory means that this season he will get an automatic entry into the rest of the signature of PGA Tour, together with the Masters Call for his main debut next month and a place at the PGA Championship.
