Lima, Peru – Former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo was taken from the hospital prison on Thursday, three days after he started hunger strike in protest of his permanent Trial of rebellion.
The Court hearing his trial reported that Castillo (55) was transferred due to the “health problem” and exclude “liquid disorder and mild dehydration”.
The Prosecution is looking for 34 years in prison for the former president.
Castillo, which was detained from 7. December 2022, after television speech in which he declared the dissolution of Congress and his intention to rule Decree, described his trial as “politicized” and “pantomizer”. He refused a legal advisor to give the judicial system. Congress removed him from office on the same day.
During the opening of the trial last week, he denied he rebellions, saying that everything he “did to convey the folk desire through political speech.”
After Castillo was removed from the office and then the vice president Dina Boluarte Presumptive office. Three months of the protest followed the presidential crisis in which they followed in the southern American country. Dozens of people died demonstrations.
Castillo was a teacher of rural schools without political experience when he won Peru’s 2021 election. In addition to the current trial, he confronted criminal investigation for the alleged corruption during his time.
