Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron had one of the most dominant appearances in his Nascar career at Sunday Goodyear 400 on the Darlington Raceway. However, he shared his frustration after a painful loss because he finished the race on a racing place behind the race winner backwards Denny Hamlin.

Byron was in the upper form throughout the 400 mile race. He led 243 of the 297 rounds, won both phase 1 and phase 2 and looked like he would easily win. His car was fast and his team was well prepared for the weekend in the race. Everything seemed perfect to the final cycle of the Green Flag pit, where he lost his lead for the first time and never returned it.

Tyler Reddick 23xi Racing took over the lead in the 249 Circle and led to a caution period in a late 4 round race that went to the race to the extension. All leaders came to the final stop, and then Denny Hamlin Joe Gibbs Racing The crew stopped him quickly. In re -launching Hamlin got the perfect launch and withdrew in front of the field. Byron tried to persecute him, but he couldn’t in time.

Hamlin continued to win in the race, beating Byron only 0.597 seconds. Speaking on Pit Road after the race, Byron shared (via Speedwaydigest -a):

“First, really proud of your team, bringing that level of effort and preparation, to have such a car. To execute such a thing, it looked like it would be the perfect race. We intended to run every circle. We were really proud of that.”

“These guys could be aggressive on the other side of the Green Flag cycle. We lost control there. Once we lost control, we came back over there. Yes, it’s shit. I’m sure it will be stabbed a lot tonight. There are still a lot of positive results. In the moment, surely,” he added.

Despite the failure, Byron increased the lead in the leadership of the driver with 16 points to 49 points. Hamlin moved second, jumping six places after 56 career victories.

William Byron in his close second place in Cota

This is not the first time William Byron finished second in a close fight for the final stage this season. Something similar happened in the Grand Prixu Echopark Texas in Cota when he ended up behind the race winner Christopher Bell.

In the last rounds of the race, Bell fought for the lead with Kyle Busch, and Byron patiently sat patiently, waiting for his opportunity to run for the lead. And while Byron was given a little opportunity to go to Bell, he did not want to destroy Bell’s racing with an overly aggressive move and settled in second place. Speaking after the race, William Byron shared:

“I was really close. I felt like a battle between him (Christopher Bell) and Kyle (Busch), sitting there and waiting for one of them to get up or slide tires. Bell got beside him, and I felt like he was cleansed once, his car was super loose, and that somehow gave me a few shots …

William Byron will return to the Kupa Cups on Sunday, April 13, at The Food City 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway. The race should start at 15:00 et.
