Mikel Arthte is facing anxious waiting over the fitness of four veterans ahead of the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League next week against Real Madrid.
The rifles increased the return of Bukayo Saka, who had only achieved seven minutes of his return to Arsenal, but lost Gabriel Magalhaes due to an obvious knee injury.
The Brazilian defender was replaced only for 16 minutes in the game after he retreated as he sprinted back toward his own goal. The middle back was seen murmuring as he lay on the lawn, clamping the back of his right leg, after which he was replaced by Jakub Kiwior.
In the meantime, Jurrien Timber was forced to injury to a knee during a 2-1 victory over Fulham at Emirates Stadium.
There are also concerns about Ben White and Riccard Calafiori’s fitness, who both missed the match against Fulham, leaving Arteta with a potential crisis of defense injuries just a few days from a key conflict with Real at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
About the injuries of her veterans, Artete said, “Gabi felt something on her knees. We don’t know how big it was to Jurrien. He was already fighting very early in the game. He managed to continue, at some point he couldn’t. So, that is a disadvantage.
“The good thing is that this is the whole season. As we managed to be where we were with all these injuries, Ben White didn’t participate at all this season. This is what it is.
“You can imagine with these four players in a defensive line in one week. So Calafiori, Ben White, Jurrien and Gabriel. We have another four who are so willing to do their job. We want so much that we really will start it and we are very excited for next week.”
Arsenal has already suffered injuries to Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz this season.
Saka returned to the bench for Tuesday in the league game, but Arthtea was left to Ruy with a fresh defensive shot ahead of the key period.
Analysis: injury to Arsenal Sour Arsenal winning night
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright:
Sakin goal, he scored only the fifth touch, seven minutes after his introduction, gave the moment to enjoy home fans, but Gabriel’s retreat, and Timber later in the game, threw a shadow over their night.
Gabriel, whose partnership with William Salib became the main means of Arsenal, looked desperate as he walked around the field and down the tunnel. His absence against Real Madrid would be a significant blow to the Arsenal Champions League.
This seems to be the latest in a series of lower leg injuries for the side of Mikel Artete. Gunneri will hope that Gabriel’s injury will not be as serious as the Sake, which missed three months, and Kai Havertz, who was excluded in the season after she had spoiled in February.
Timber’s forced replacement, after having suffered to her knees in the first half, added another care of Arteta, which in the intervals of a few days inserted the potential loss of four veterans, and White and Calafiors were also not present.
How long could Gabriel go out?
Arsenal desperately hoping Gabriel The knee injury is not as serious as the ones that have suffered Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz earlier this season.
But even the injuries of the lower leg, one degree, strain or withdrawal where a little muscle fibers are damaged, can take two to three weeks.
This length of absence could still rule Gabriel from both legs of the double header of the Arsenal Champions League against Real Madrid.
Two or three lower leg injuries mean a tear of muscle and usually results in months, not weeks on the sides, as possible to rule Gabriel by the end of the season, such as Havertz.
Both Havertz and Saka demanded surgery, but only on Tuesday night, Saka returned to the team after suffered his injury in December.
Arsenal faces Everton and Brentford in the Premier League on both sides of the conflict of the first week of next week against Real Madrid on April 8. The second leg is held on April 16th.
Arteta: Saka raised the stadium
A big positive night for Arsenal, however, was the return of Sake.
Saka reached the return of injury against Fulham at the Emirates, ending the 101-day absence when he came off the bench shortly after the trace.
The English international was only seven minutes on the field when he doubled the advantage of Arsenal before he went to excavated to accept a club medical staff member during the celebration.
“I think it’s a nice time to see how many our people love, respect and admire Bukayu,” Artea said. “He is not a surprise of none of us and I think the best example is his reaction. Immediately after scoring a goal, what does he do?
“He leaves and says thank you for the hard work that all the Sports Science guys, physios and everyone involved in recovery for him so he can be able to be as he is. I think he raised the stadium, energy and great that he brought him back.”
Saka, Martinelli offers positive results in the middle of Arsenal’s injury
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright at Emirates Stadium:
It took Saki just seven minutes to get back to the goal action. His close range from Gabriel Martinelli proved to be decisive in Arsenal’s victory 2-1 over Fulham.
The 23-year-old, who first appeared from December after a knee injury, received a fascinated reception when he appeared as a replacement, but the celebrations that followed his goal were something else. “He raised the energy at the stadium,” Arteta said.
Saka looked sharp, as well as Matelli, whose acrobatic shake from the cross Mikel Merino set Sakin goal was one of the five chances of the game. No one else created more than two. Fulham struggled to restrain him on the left side of Arsenal.
Like Saka, Martinelli has suffered injury problems this season, but his return to form, together with the return of Sake, which now has a total of 23 goals and assistants in 25 games for Arsenal this season, provides an increase in the fire forces for the challenges ahead.
