Marc Skinner has signed a new contract to remain head coach Manchester United until the summer of 2027, with the possibility of an additional year.
Ever since he arrived at the club 2021, Skinner has been united to the first great honor of the club in women’s football with 2024 FA Cup after completing runners in the previous season.
His team also achieved second place in the Women’s Super League 2022-23, securing a place in the UEFA female Champions League. In 119 matches as the main coach, Skinner has a victory ratio of almost 65 percent.
He said: “She was an absolute privilege to serve as a major coach for this fantastic football club in the last four years, and I am overjoyed that I have been extending my time in the role of at least two years.
“We build a young, hungry team with the aim of consistently provoking further trophies.
“It’s even more hard work, including this season, but players and staff have already shown their determination to succeed, and I am looking forward to making the next steps together on our path.”
Manchester United Technical Director Jason Wilcox said: “Marc -O’s record since he took over his duty to speak for himself, after providing our first great female silver and firmly established us among the leading teams in WSL.
“After a big overhaul last summer, we have an exciting, development team ready to compete for further success and we are convinced that Marc is a real coach to lead the process.”
Manchester United Chief Operational Collette Roche added: “The construction of a successful and popular women’s team is an important part of our wider, football first strategy for the club.
“We appreciate the contribution that Marc has already made at that goal and we are delighted to continue to play a key role in the urge to place Manchester United at the head of the growth of the women’s game.”
Skinner has monitored the permanent success – now can it cause a WSL title?
Analysis from Sky Sports’ Laura Hunter:
“Skinner has become the longest WSL service manager this season. His four years in charge of MAN UTD varied in success, but constantly, Skinner oversee the period of huge growth. The best three leagues became the first four, with far less predictability.
“Consistent campaign was especially served by Skinner at a time when the club was craving for stability. A lot of changes occurred during intense 18 months of surveillance. Others were players and everyone could talk.
“Fans became disenfranchised by the so -called lack of the progress of the project – and the fact that their favorite players were jumping the ship. Alessia Russo joined Arsenal, she went to Barcelona, Mary Earps went because of PSG, and Captain Katie called her time on her six years.
“But Skinner’s approach was to use a transition as a clean board. He wanted – and still wants to build a team with youth and alive, the one who echoes with fans, local communities of Manchester and beyond. Man UTD crossed from one of the oldest teams in the league in one of the youngest at an average age of an average age.
“Still, the results have become better not worse. Managers are evaluated according to form and results, and so far there is a little complaining about this term.
“Last season, not enough achievement, finishing in fifth place in the league, probably demanded a summer change. Perhaps positive calls can be gathered from the bruise of the past. There will always be a few bones of quarrels, but Skinner -Appetite has not switched for a number of penalties for several seasons.
“In an era where we are obsessed with rating and ranking, it is quite obvious that Skinner goes fine. As Manchester United turns out of four participants to true challengers, he should now be his next biggest measure.”
