Boxer John Cony is based in intensive care after his defeat against Wilcheman Nathan Hells in Ulster Hall on Saturday.
Century was stopped in the ninth round of the battle, which was the first defense of the title of his superior weight in the weight of the nomad, then underwent surgery.
In a statement, Cony Mark Dunloub said: “After the Battle of John Cony, the epic in Ulster Hall, on Saturday evening, John was evaluated by the medical team at the site of the British Boxing Boxing Council and quickly transferred to the Royal Belfast Victoria Hospital for more treatment.
“Upon his arrival at RVH, he discovered that John had a skull bleeding and underwent immediate surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.
“John is currently in the intensive care unit and in the hands of the intensive care unit hospital.
“John Emalin’s fiancée and his parents Hugh and Tina would like to thank everyone for their support messages and they will ask to keep John in their ideas and prayers at this time as he faces his most difficult battle.”
Hagws issued a statement on social media on Monday to wish his opponent a rapid recovery, as he posted on Instagram: “I know that a few of my country was asking about John and I was waiting for myself to hear. I haven’t heard anything, however, but this is the last update of the promoter.
“I never wanted to happen any of this, I just went out there to the box. I wish nothing but the best for his family John and I hope he will return to the house safe and sound. I do not know him actually myself, but it seems that he is a really respectful man.
“What I know is that he is a strong and strong young man who can overcome this and take out the other side. My thoughts and my prayers go out to his family and friends and will be respected forever.
“We shared a episode together and the boy did not resign once or search for a way out.
CONEY won the Celtic Super-Fatheright title by winning in the first round over Liam Gaynor in Dublin in November 2023, a part of the same exhibition that witnessed Katie Taylor’s defeat CHANTELLE CAMERON by majority decision.
