Vladimir Putin warned about increasing geopolitical competition in the Arctic Against the Green Threating Greenland from Denmark, but said Russia was open to cooperate with the western countries of the region.

How was US Vice President JD Vance Set to visit On Thursday, Putin stated that Donald Trump’s intention to buy Greenland has nothing to do with Russia and had deep historical roots dating back to the 19th century.

But he warned that increased competition caused risks.

Speaking at the Arctic Conference in the Murmansk, W / He said that “it is obvious that the US would continue the system of promoting its geopolitical, military and economic interests in the region,” adding that his dispute over Greenland with Denmark was for two states.

Putin said that Russia was worried that “NATO countries are generally increasingly appointed north of planning for potential conflicts” and will respond accordingly.

“Obviously, the role and importance of the Arctic is growing for Russia and the world, but geopolitical struggle for position in the region is simultaneously intensified,” Putin said.

Russia would not “allow” to invade our country’s sovereignty and forcibly defend our national interests, “he said, adding that this will increase the number of squads in Arctic.

Repetitive Trump’s threats To take Greenland, potentially forces, from Denmark there are unregulated islanders and Copenhagen.

The embarrassment established when several high -ranking US officials had to visit Greenland this weekend for putting it as a “private visit” to watch the national dog sled competition.

But this trip was canceled after Greenland announced several protests against it, raising the ghost of television images that would be embarrassed for the US.

Instead, Vens and his wife will visit the Pituffik space base, the only US military installation on Greenland, Friday, in the fact that northern diplomats see as “a mechanism for saving the face”.

Denmark and Greenland were particularly upset the terms of the visit in the middle of the coalition discussion after National elections A party was conquered on the island, which preferred a slow, gradual independence from Copenhagen.

Greenland media said the coalition agreement between four of the parliamentary parliamentary parties – speaking the most for rapid independence, should be represented on Friday. Experts say Greenland has become wary that independence from Denmark could be used by the United States.

Many parties remain interested in strengthening the US presence in Greenland, as well as invite US companies to help use mineral wealth, common on its huge land.

Russia has set potential arctic cooperation in the US as one of the several possible ways to attract Moscow from the cold three years after Putin ordered a full -scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Kremlin seeks to develop the route of the North Sea through the Arctic road stripes, as it reorienates its export economy from European markets, the process that has passed after China threw Russia’s economic life line during the war of Ukraine.

Russia’s ability to sell liquefied natural gas on the global market also hindered Western sanctions against its Arctic energy facilities and the fleet of tankers.

Steve Vitkoff, a special messenger of Trump, hinted at the negotiations in an interview that he aired after he met Putin last week in Moscow.

“Who does not want to have a world where Russia and the US do joint things together? Thinking about how to integrate their energy policy into the Arctic, to share the maritime paths, perhaps sending a junior … Together,” Vitkoff said.

On Thursday, Putin complained that Western countries “chose the way of confrontation”, suspending Russia from the Arctic Council, the Cooperation Authority in the region, as well as stopping scientific, environmental and cultural talks.

But he acknowledged that Russia’s grand plans to develop the region through the expansion of its northern ports, the creation of a trade fleet, backed up by nuclear icebreakers, and expanding the North Sea route to work with foreign countries.

Putin said Western countries could join Russia in “global international projects with the participation of friendships.” Moscow will seek to develop its partnerships with foreign shipbuilding companies and buy foreign courts, he added.

Five European members of the Arctic Council – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden – showed little interest in reading Russia while its troops are still in Ukraine.

But several senior northern diplomats have acknowledged that the exception of Russia ended the “exclusivity of the Arctic”, in which the distant north was isolated from geopolitical tensions elsewhere.
