Eddie Howe will miss the Sunday Premier League match against Manchester United after being admitted to the hospital.
Howe was admitted to the hospital late on Friday “it felt uncomfortable for a few days,” Newcastle said in a statement.
The club statement continued: “Magpies -headed coach was admitted to the hospital late Friday night, feeling uncomfortable for several days.
“Medical staff held Eddie in the hospital overnight for further tests, which are ongoing. He is aware and talks to his family, and continues to provide professional medical care.
“Everyone in Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a quick recovery, and further updates will follow in the near future.”
Howwe’s assistants, Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead a team for Play in St. James, which starts at 4.30pm, live on Sky Sports.
Tindall stopped at a club at a club conference.
Howe led Newcastle until his first domestic trophy over 70 years last month, with the final victory of Carabao Cup over Liverpool on Wembley.
He was in charge of Tyneside since November 2021, when he inherited Steve Bruce.
Newcastle is currently the seventh in the Premier League table and is bidding to secure the Champions League qualification after the Cup success.
