On Tuesday, the White House said Kiev and Moscow agreed “to provide safe navigation, eliminate the use of force and prevent the use of commercial ships for military purposes in the Black Sea.”
But there are questions about when the ceasefire comes into force, and the President of Ukrainian Volodimir Zelensky is concerned whether Russia will do so.
A high Ukrainian official told Financial Times that Kyiv immediately stopped “deep blows” for Russian military purposes, including the goals of the Black Sea and Energy.
But the Kremlin said the transaction would only take effect after the sanctions imposed on Russian banks involved in the production and trade of agricultural goods.
The White House said it would increase Russia’s access to the global agricultural and fertilizer markets, including support for maritime insurance costs and improve access to ports and payment systems.
A Russian request to hide sanctions on creditors will require EU permission.
Speaking to the journalists in Kiev, Zelenskyy said the US side said his delegation that the ceasefire would act at once.
“For the first time, we agreed that there could be peace of mind in the sea and free navigation,” Zelensky said. “The second point is to stop the attacks on the energy system.”
He remained skeptical of Russia, which performs this ceasefire, but said that Kiev would hold its end of the deal.
“I have questions about how it will be implemented.” Of course, I would like to return more than our team back (Kyiv), “Zelensky said.
“The Russians have no faith,” he added. “But I believe that we will act constructively and make our part to realize the results of the US-Ukraine meeting.”
The agreements come after two days of separate discussions with the delegations of Kiev and Moscow to Eriyady, which the high -ranking Ukrainian official called “positive … but not a victory”.
