Derek Chisora’s plan for challenging the world title became more complex, and Filip Hrgovic and Frank Sanchez also target the same IBF belt.
Chisora was previously appointed as a “mandatory challenger” for the IBF belt that Daniel Dubois is currently holding, but his position is now unclear with Hrgovic and Sanchez who were to face the final eliminator with the winner who is the title of IBF title title.
Croatia Hrgovic was awarded a route back to the worldwide fight against a heavyweight title after securing a unanimous victory for a decision over British Joe Joyce in Manchester earlier this month.
Sanchez returned in February with a stopping victory after a knee surgery and will join Eddy Reynosoom, coach Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, if a fight with Hrgovic is confirmed.
Chisora seemed to have secured the fight against the world title for her 50th fight after defeating Otto Wallin in the IBF eliminator in February.
IBF said Sky Sports: “Derek Chisora is a compulsory challenger for Daniel Dubois, but a mandatory duel should be ordered on April 22. There is not enough time for the eliminator because Dubois is mandatory obligatory to reach June 21.”
It remains to be seen whether IBF will continue with its initial plan because Dubois is expected to face Oleksandra Usyk in an undeniable fight for the world title at Wembley Stadium in July.
The unification of the world title is replaced by the mandatory defense, so that Dubois would be allowed to box usyk in the undisputed fighting of the World Cup before he had to fulfill the mandatory defense of his IBF belt.
Chisora said Sky Sports He plans to withdraw after his next fight, but “badly wants it” is a title hit against Dubois at Wembley.
“We’ll see what’s going on, but I want that recording because IBF made me obliged to do it. I want it, there are no two ways about it. I want it bad,” he said.
“I want to fight Daniel. It’s a good story, because behind the whole thing my old coach was trained.
“It’s a very exciting fight, and I just want that recording now.”
Chris Eubank VS Conor Benn will be live on Saturday 26 April at Sky Sports Box Office. Book immediately!
