Three buses in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, have exploded in what the Israeli police say it is a “suspected terrorist attack.”
They said that the devices in two other buses failed to explode, adding that “the large police forces are behind the scenes, looking for the suspects.”
Transport Minister Miri Regev described the cessation of all buses, trains and light railway trains in the country during an examination of explosive devices.
Social media shots show at least one bus in a car park, with a large group of smoke over height.
Police said that there were no reports of victims at this stage.
The authorities urge the public to avoid areas and stay on alert to suspicious elements.
