Vatican has released the first image of the Pope Francis since he was admitted to the hospital a month ago.
The photo shows Pontif in a wheelchair in front of the altar in the chapel of Gemelli Hospital in Rome.
Early Sunday, in his Angelus message, the Pope thanked the famous people for his prayers and said that he faced “trial period” in peace in “countries injured by war.”
The Pope did not attend the blessing every week, showing the fifth Sunday. The Vatican said earlier this week that X -rays confirmed “improvement” in his state, but still needed hospital treatment.
“The Holy Father still needs hospital medical therapy, exercise and respiratory physical therapy,” he added in the statement on Saturday.
The 88 -year -old Pope Francis was not open to public after entering the hospital on February 14, and the photo was not released until Sunday.
The pope said, “I am sick.
“Especially, countries that were injured in war, especially Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan, and Congo Democratic Republic, let’s pray for peace for peace.”
After arriving at Gemelli Hospital in Rome, the Pope was treated with double pneumonia and other infections.
He also suffered some respiratory crisis, raising concerns about his survival.
Earlier this month, the Pope Francis’s audio recording, speeches in his Spanish, was played at St. Peter Square in Vatican City.
He thanked Catholics for prayer and could not breathe.
Born in Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Francis is the first pope in America.
As a young man, he contracted the pleural pleural and was partially eliminated, which made him particularly vulnerable to pneumonia.
As a result of his long burden on recovery, there was speculation that Pope Francis could follow his predecessor Benedict XVI and resign the Pope.
But friends and electrical writers close to the pope insisted that he had no plans to withdraw. And despite his weak health, Pontif continued to work in the hospital.
This year is a Catholic sacred year, and 32 million pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome.
