“The hearts of an entire nation lies in Thaters,” said the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, where the bodies of the four hostages that Hamas have alive in its attack on October 7, 2023 were returned to Tel Aviv.
Hamas says that the bodies are mothers and two children from the Pepas family, whose fate has acquired unknown to Israel. Israel confirmed only LIFSCHITZ identity, 84, a veteran peace activist – after the forensic examination.
President Herzog wrote, “There are no words” in a post on the social media platform X, asking the four for forgiveness “for not returning home safely.”
This is the first time that the enthusiasm of the prisoners has repeated since it started the ceasefire last month.
Six neighborhood hostages will be released on Saturday.
The news that Sherry Pipas, 33, and her children, who will now be at the age of five and the second, have died a flow of sadness throughout the country.
Hamas claimed in November 2023 that they were killed in an Israeli air strike, without providing evidence. The Israeli government did not confirm the claim.
In his cost, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement that the country “is united in unbearable sadness. Every home in Israel stands head today.
“We are all angry with the monsters of Hamas,” he said.
“Today was” one of the tremendous sadness and failure. “
Early Thursday morning, in scenes designed from their design that reminiscent of the recent deliveries of living hostages, four black coffins were placed on stage with advertising in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza in front of crowds of spectators.
One of the backgrounds depicts the image of Benjamin Netanyahu with fangs waving on the horizon on the image of the four hostages when they were alive. Another reading: “The return of war = the return of your prisoners in the coffins.”
One of the attendees, Ikram Abu Salut, BBC said It was against the delivery of corpses. “They did not remove the rubble and we do not even know the location of our children and our families.”
It seems that a Red Cross official signs documents on a table alongside Hamas militants before transferring the four coffins to the vehicles belonging to the humanitarian organization.
United Nations Human Rights President Volcker Turk said that delivery is “hateful and harsh and flying in the face of international law.”
“We urge all the returns in privacy, and in conjunction and care,” he added.
After delivery, the bodies were transported to the Israeli forces in Gaza and brought to Israel. People – many with the Israeli and yellow flags that represent the hostages – lined up in the streets as a police convoy with coffins that they passed. The bodies were transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Jaffa, Israel, for the post -death.
The Bibas family, LIFSCHTIZ and his wife were among the residents who were taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz when hundreds of Hamas militants exploded across the border with Israel, attacking societies, security sites and a music festival.

About 1,200 people – most of them civilians – were killed in the attack and 251 others have recovered in Gaza. Israel launched a huge military campaign against Hamas in response, which killed at least 4,829 Palestinians – as civilians – according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
Yardin Pepas, 35, was released on February 1 with two other hostages as part of the exchange of 183 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Oded Lifschitz, a retired journalist, was held by the Palestinian Islamic Armed Group. His wife Yocheved was released by Hamas on October 23, 2023.
It was agreed to issue hostages as part of the ceasefire deal that entered into force on January 19. Israel confirmed that there will be eight.
The two sides agreed to exchange 33 hostages to about 1900 prisoners by the end of the first six weeks of the ceasefire.
Talks about progress to the next stage of the deal – the remaining hostages will be released and the war will end permanently – it was scheduled to start earlier this month but not started.
So far, twenty -eight hostages and more than 1,000 prisoners have been exchanged.
There are still sixty -six hostages captured on October 7 in Gaza. There are three other hostages, who have been taken more than a decade ago. It is believed that about half of all the hostages who are still in Gaza are alive.
