Jeans Stoltenberg, former Secretary-General of NATO, will surprise the front lines of Norwegian policy as a financial minister, according to persons familiar with the matter, as the north countries penetrate that they will be arrested in the middle of the United States-European Union war.

Stalltenberg, which was the Prime Minister of Norway in the period 2000-2001 and 2005-13, will become a finance minister on Tuesday after the collapse of the previous coalition government in the largest oil producer in Western Europe due to a dispute over the energy policies of the European Union.

He held the position of NATO president for a decade from last year, known for his good relations with US President Donald Trump and to make Sweden and Finland in the military alliance after Russia’s full invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

One of the first Stalltenberg functions is to deal with the possibility of Norway, which is not a member of the European Union, which is likely to be subjected to definitions from Brussels and Washington.

This comes at the same time as the extensive energy discussion that last week fell the previous coalition government on whether Norway should maintain more electricity for itself to reduce consumer prices or export them to the European Union and the United Kingdom, an issue that is decisive for future relations with Brussels .

Stalltenberg was an attractive leader of the dominant working party for more than a decade until he took the role of NATO in 2014. He was to return to Norway as head of the Central Bank in 2022, but he was forced to refuse the job after receiving an extension in NATO.

Its role now will be to revitalize the wealth of the stalled labor party before the parliamentary elections in September, in addition to dealing with problems between Oslo and its main allies, the United States and the European Union.

Stalltenberg has become known as “Trump Whisperer” during his period in NATO for his ability to manage the volatile American president, and his sake of efforts to raise defense spending through the coalition.

Norway was appointed to meet the informal goal of NATO, which is 2 percent of the GDP spending for defense only last year, and spending much less than other countries adjacent to Russia such as Poland, Estonia and Litania.

Stalltenberg’s entry into the Norway government comes after the collapse of the minority coalition consisting of the two -party dualism last week about whether many energy directions in the European Union will be signed in the law. The Rural and Eurosby Center – led by former Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum – decided to leave, on the pretext that Norway needs a new more protection cycle around electricity.

The Labor Party – led by Stalltenberg friend, Prime Minister Jonas Jahr Storer – will rule alone alone until the September elections, and has made many new electricity proposals, including a cheap price at the country level, guaranteed to power and the lack of new export contacts to Europe.

The last issue is particularly controversial in Oslo and Brussels. Next year, the electricity powers to Denmark are scheduled to end from Norway, and the Labor Party indicated that it will carry out a campaign in the elections not to renew them. But this angered Denmark and Sweden and through the European Union.
