Donald Trump signal that he would throw his support for the Shagoss agreement between the UK and Mauritius, in a significant victory for Sir Keir Starmer.

Trump’s comments came when he was hosted on Thursday by British Prime Minister at the White House Bilateral negotiations over the future of Ukraine.

“I have to see details (about Islands of something deal) but it doesn’t seem bad. . . I think we will tend to go with your country, “Trump said, sitting next to the starter in the oval office.

London was accepted by the Trump administration’s verdict on the proposed agreement, which provides for the transfer of the UK Indian Ocean Sovereignty Mauricia in exchange for rent on the largest island of the archipelago. The island has a decisive joint US-UK military base.

According to the draft agreement, having agreed Mauritius, Britain rented atol Diego Garcia for the initial 99-year period, with the ability to expand it by another 40 years.

Asked by the British reporter whether he will approve the deal, Trump said: “We will have a few discussions about it very soon, and I have the feeling that it will work out very well.

“They talk about a very long-term, powerful rent, very strong rent, in fact about 140 years, and I think we will tend to go with your country,” he added. “It’s a little early, we need to give details, but it doesn’t sound bad.”

India, regional power with close ties with Mauritius, also supported the deal.

British officials said the issue did not arise in the US administration while preparing for the visit, believing that this was not a priority for the new president.

However, this week, British Foreign Minister David Lami said Britain continues an effective veto on Trump’s transaction with his consequences for the US security.

In recent decades, the Diego Garcia base has been a starting platform and a decisive position for listening in the region.

Trump’s senior Republican allies were critical of the Britain and Mauritius, referring to the problems that could strengthen Chinese interests in the Indian Ocean.

Opposition deputies in Britain, including UK leader Nigel Parazh, who is Trump’s member, and the leader of the Badenok Conservative Party, also caused a contempt for an agreement, including the price tag of about 9 billion pounds for the initial 99-year rent.

The UK government has defended this deal, claiming that international lawyers raised doubts about future airbase and port operating on Diego Garcia if the transaction was not reached.
