Southampton has suffered its 24th Premier League season while Wolves away from St. Mary’s 2-1 win thanks to the double Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Wolves have now moved nine points away from the lower three, while the gap that is separated by Southampton and the safety of top flying extends to 14 points.
The saints started the game well, but their momentum pierced when Strand Larsen ran into the cross Jean-Aricner Bellegarde so Wolves would give the lead in the first half (19), which was the same combination that connected shortly after the re-launch to double the advantage (47).
While the first goal showed the air capacity of the Norwegian striker, the second pointed out his talents with his feet. After receiving Bellegard’s passage, Strand Larsen moved the ball to his right leg and put an effort outside the area into the lower corner.
Half time Paul Onoach withdrew a goal for Southampton with 15 minutes, knocked on the effort of Tyler Budding, which he dropped out of the house, but his side lacked quality and driving to take more and more from the game, as was the case of the whole season.
The drive now separates the Juricine men and wolves in 17th place, with their fate in the Premier League, except for the sealed after another scary display that BOOS from Homecrowd welcomed from Homecrowd.
Juric: something is always missing
Southampton safe Ivan Juric speaking Sky Sports::
“I am disappointed because at the beginning of the match we had two great chances and admitted when they first arrived near our goal. The second goal was almost the same.
“Not enough. When you have a season like us, there is a lot of things. Everything is missing. We all make mistakes. We need to be a team, it’s a moment to be tough and we do more.
“I don’t get down in a bad way.”
On Boos from the homemade crowd: “No one is happy, it’s normal. It’s a difficult and ugly moment.”
Battle of relegation?
Sky Sports’ Patrick Rowe:
The Wolves move nine points away from the fall, while Southampton watches a series of 14 points that separate them and security.
It feels like a battle for relegation is just sealed. All three teams that appeared from the championship will go directly down.
Wolves Boss Vitor Pereira should clap for the job he did to manage that team, which was in 19th place when Gary O’Neil was freed from his duties, but part of this success decreased to a lack of quality Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester.
The struggle for survival could be completed, but the threat beating the amount of Derby district of only 11 points in the 2007/08 campaign is still big for this side of the saints.
Two points at this point look like big questions.
