Millions of people around the world work in the so -called performance economy, from food delivery and ride red to ruins and domestic services. The flexibility provided by the online performance platform can be attractive, but limited job security, lack of social protection and sometimes exploitation costs. However, performance workers are organized by protest and some development. Charles Pellegrin talks with Jamie Woodcock, a senior digital economy lecturer at King ‘S College London, and the author of “Fighting Platform capitalism: Exploration of the global struggle of the performance economy”.
