Brisbane, Australia – Two of the bereaved parents and 12 members of an Australian religious group accused of killing a 8 -year -old girl were convicted by blocking her diabetes on Wednesday with unintended death.

Elizabeth Rose Strahoz died on January 7, 2022 at her family’s home in Tuumba, Queensland, after six days without insulin shots described for type 1 diabetes.

Her father, Jason Richard Stratuz, 53, and the leader of the family’s religious group called “Saints”, Brendan Luke Stevens, 63, was charged with the most dangerous murder, but Queensland Supreme Court Judge, Martin Burns, found both convictions from Wrong killing.

Burns also found 12 other members of the group, including the victim’s mother, Kerry Elizabeth Streuz, 49, and the victim of Zakari Alain Stratuz, 22, with unintended death. No one accused the condemnation.

All 14 in the reservation were held to appear before the court due to the verdict on February 11. Each of them faces a possible maximum life penalty in prison.

Jaidi Streuz, the adult victim, told reporters outside the court that she welcomed the ruling.

“Although we have achieved a good result today, I must acknowledge that the system has failed to protect Elizabeth in the first place,” said Jaidi Stroz.

She added: “We are only here today because more has not been done soon to protect her or remove her from an unsafe situation with credibility in her home.”

In finding the father and religious leader not guilty of death, Burns said that the prosecution failed to prove that they showed a reckless indifference to life.

Burns said: “There has been a reasonable possibility, in the atmosphere covered in the church that wraps Starshos … that (the Father) did not come to the full perception of the most likely that Elizabeth will see.”

But the judge found that the victim’s parents showed a “terrible departure from the level of care” with the support and encouragement of other defendants.

At the beginning of the trial last year, Stevens argued that they believed reasonable that God would heal the child.

Burns all urged them to obtain lawyers before judging them.
